Lord Buddha's Filial Piety

Previous | Home | Next

When the Buddha heard that his father, King Suddhodana, was ill, he went to the city of Gabilabahd to see him. The Buddha delivered a sermon “Impermanence of Life” to the king. Upon listening to the sermon, the king attained the level of Arahant, after which he died. As the last demonstration his filial piety, the Buddha gave flame to the remains of King Suddhodana.
